About the role

Mater Mother’s Hospital are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant in Nursing (AIN) to join the inpatient Postnatal Ward on a 12-month maximum-term, part-time basis, working 16 hours per week.

Mater Mothers' Hospital is a leader in the provision of high-quality maternity and newborn services for the people of Queensland. Delivering over 10,000 babies per year, we provide exceptional care to both public and privately funded women ranging from normal, low risk pregnancy and birth to complex obstetric and medical care.

Salary range: $33.20 - $36.35 hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you'll be doing

You will be responsible for providing public postnatal care with a high volume of normal and complex care cases within the Mater Mothers’ Hospital.  You will support the Midwifery team in the provision of excellent standards of nursing care at all times. Your enthusiasm and skills will see you seamlessly integrate into this outstanding team, assisting to provide an exceptional level of care and to hit-the-ground-running.

You will become an integral part of the team that is passionate about making a difference in the lives of those you care for, while making a positive contribution to the overall standard of care delivered at Mater Mothers’ Hospital.

  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
  • Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care every time
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

About you

You will enjoy demonstrating your excellent communication skills and building relationships to ensure exceptional patient care.

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  • Hold a Certificate III in Patient Care and Ward Services, OR
  • Currently studying either an Undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing or Diploma of Nursing
  • Previous experience working as an AIN in a hospital environment desirable
  • Knowledge of Infection Control procedures and processes
  • Exceptional communication, problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other health professionals, patients and relatives/carers
  • Skills to assist with the management of stock
  • An enthusiastic and motivated attitude
