Mater Research are looking for a Senior Research Officer to join the team! This maximum term (12-month), part-time (0.9 FTE, negotiable) role will be based at our campus in South Brisbane.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead research that directly supports Primary Care and Health Care Reform Initiatives. You will collaborate with partners including Primary Health Networks (PHNs) and participating general practices, playing a pivotal role in improving patient care through evidence-based research.

Salary range: $60.81 - $64.36 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a senior member of the team, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Centre and work closely with the broader project team to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met. You will lead recruitment and engagement with general practitioners and clinics, fostering strong relationships with primary care professionals and partner organisations.
Your role will involve supporting research and evaluation activities, including data collection, analysis, reporting, and contributing to publications, presentations, and grant applications. You will also assist in translating research findings into practice to enhance health system reform initiatives.
About you
You are a skilled health services researcher with a passion for improving primary care through evidence-based innovation. You bring strong leadership and stakeholder engagement abilities, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams. To thrive in this role, you will have:
- A relevant undergraduate degree with research experience; postgraduate qualifications in public health, allied health, nursing, or health services research are highly desirable.
- Proven experience in health service settings, particularly primary care.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake research, including performing health services research.
- Experience in providing research support and administration, including developing project timelines, preparing data collection instruments, and collecting data from research participants.
- Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, including data collection, analysis, and literature review.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and ability to effectively support and develop team members in their activities and professional development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with GPs, clinics, PHNs, and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Endnote and REDCap is advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in all aspects of project management, including implementing and measuring change for innovative integrated health care models.
- Evidence of contributing to research through scholarly publications and presentations at international conferences (desirable).
