About the role

Mater Private Hospital Mackay are currently seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Palliative Care Ward on a permanent full-time, or part-time basis.

Mater Private Hospital Mackay nursing team provides the highest level of specialist care to patients, their families, carers, and visitors. Our team of industry professionals work together as a cohesive and collaborative unit, going above and beyond to provide patient-centred care and deliver the highest level of clinical standards for the patient and the unit.

Salary range: $41.73-$53.53 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, our Registered Nurses make up a vital and respected part of the nursing team at Mater.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all aspects of palliative care from symptom and pain management, to end of life care.
  • Utilising a structured approach to carry out comprehensive and accurate nursing assessments of patients
  • Completing PCOC assessments
  • Within scope of practice, implementing planned evidence-based nursing interventions
  • Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
  • Implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
  • Maintain and adhere to Infection Control policies and practices
  • Complies with organisational policies, procedures, work instructions and guidelines

About you

You will be driven by a challenging yet rewarding environment where you can bring your energy and experience to this dynamic ward.

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • Recent nursing experience including experience within a medical ward setting
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principles
  • Experience with using CADD pumps & Syringe Drivers is desirable
  • An openness to undergoing palliative care training if needed.
