About the role

Mater has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Advisor – Marketing and Communications to join our Corporate Affairs and Growth team, based at our Newstead office. This full-time, permanent position offers the chance to play a pivotal role in shaping Mater’s reputation, profile, and impact across health, philanthropy, and community sectors.

Salary range: Commensurate with experience plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As Senior Advisor, you will lead the delivery of integrated marketing and communication strategies that support Mater’s Mission and strategic objectives. You’ll work across both Corporate Affairs and Growth and Mater Foundation, ensuring aligned messaging, brand consistency, and effective stakeholder engagement. Your role will include:

  • Leading proactive and reactive media relations, ensuring strong brand reputation.
  • Driving engaging content, campaigns, and storytelling initiatives across multiple channels.
  • Providing trusted communications advice to senior leaders and executives.
  • Coordinating marketing and engagement activities to strengthen Mater’s visibility and influence.

About you

You are a strategic communicator with exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and a proven track record in delivering successful marketing and communications initiatives. To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in communications.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a senior communications/marketing role within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary marketing and communications principles, trends, and practices.
  • Demonstrated success in media relations and developing engaging content.
  • Excellent writing, planning, and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, working calmly under pressure.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
