About the role
Mater Hospital South Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join the team on a full-time basis, commencing 6th Jan 2026.
As a Senior Occupational Therapist you will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high level services to patients of Mater Private Hospital South Brisbane. You will lead occupational therapy service development and overall operations of the occupational therapy service with deployment across inpatient wards.
Salary range: $64.64 - $69.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Typical tasks include:
Manage a complex and varied Hand Therapy caseload where some presentations may require adaptation or modification of routine clinical practice to enhance patient outcomes
Apply independent clinical judgement with minimal supervision
Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers
Contribute to the operational management of team, workflows and prioritisation of caseloads
Contribute to the development of new and existing services, models of care, procedures and protocols that support high quality patient care and efficient and cost-effective service delivery
Identify, initiate, plan and evaluate quality and service improvement activities
Actively contribute to the research culture and collaborate on clinical research activities
Significantly contribute to promoting a learning culture within the team through mentoring, clinical supervision and delivery of training
About you
To be successful in the position we are searching for someone who is/has:
Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or Master of Occupational Therapy
Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Demonstrated high level of knowledge, clinical practice and use of clinical judgement in the delivery of complex hands and surgical clinical services.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, contribute to decision making and address conflict
Evidence of clinical leadership, mentorship and supervision within the Allied Health team.
Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop and evaluate quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes
A post graduate qualification in hand therapy and/or full member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association and/or Certified Hand Therapist would be highly regarded.
