About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane Perioperative Department is currently seeking experienced Registered Nurses to work within our Anaesthetics/Recovery (PACU) team. These positions will be permanent part time (36 Anaes or 32 PACU) or full time (38 hours) per week working in our South Brisbane campus.

It is a requirement of this role to be available for all shifts including nights, on-call and weekends.

Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

Our Perioperative Registered Nurses use extensive experience to provide essential support to our patients and Clinical Nurses in activities designed to aid the sustainability of the department and assist with the progression of service improvement.

Whilst displaying the highest level of clinical standards for the unit you will be responsible for:

  • Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care while acting as patient advocate
  • Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients during perioperative journey
  • Provided effective management of postoperative complications
  • Working collaboratively with the nursing team to provide exceptional care every time
  • Maintaining current knowledge and skills to ensure continued professional growth

About you

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
  • ALS Certification
  • Must have 12 months experience within Anaesthetics and/or PACU
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead a team
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Commitment to ensuring the levels of service is always delivered to patients
  • Extensive knowledge of current National ANZCA standards as well as ACORN Standards and their alignment with the Perioperative Department

While not essential, applicants who currently have or are studying towards a tertiary qualification within this clinical specialty would be highly regarded.
