About the role

We’re currently seeking several dedicated Orderlies to join our team. These maximum-term positions are available for an immediate start and will run through to 30 June 2026. You’ll be working part-time (24 hours per week) in a vital role that supports the smooth, day-to-day operations of our hospital. Flexibility is key, as this position requires availability across a 24/7 rotating roster.

Mater Bundaberg is a 59-bed facility comprising both surgical and medical/rehabilitation units. Our Surgical Ward manages a diverse range of cases including orthopaedics, gynaecology, general surgery, and ENT procedures. Our Medical/Rehabilitation Ward supports patients across the acute and sub-acute spectrum, providing comprehensive care tailored to individual recovery needs.

Salary range: $31.24 - $33.68 (OO2) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

At Mater, we’re dedicated to delivering compassionate, healing care to our communities. As a valued member of our Clinical Assistance Team, you’ll play an essential role in supporting patient wellbeing, ensuring smooth hospital operations, and upholding our commitment to excellence and safety.

  • Safely transfer, transport, and assist patients with dignity and respect.
  • Position patients in beds, wheelchairs, and trolleys following safe handling practices.
  • Efficiently relocate equipment, furniture, and essential items between departments.
  • Courier medications, specimens, and documentation as required.
  • Assist with cleaning, linen organisation, restocking, and waste management.
  • Contribute to a positive, cooperative team environment with open communication and respect.
  • Deliver service excellence and contribute to customer satisfaction at every touchpoint.

About you

You’re a compassionate, reliable team player with a commitment to providing excellent patient support and maintaining a safe, clean healthcare environment. You hold a current CPR certificate and ideally a Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (or equivalent).

  • Experience in a similar healthcare or patient support role (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills and respect for confidentiality.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Understanding of (or willingness to learn) infection control, cleaning, and waste management practices.
  • Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft applications.
