About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking an experienced and dedicated Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and deliver exceptional care for patients living with IBD, within a values-driven, multidisciplinary environment committed to excellence, compassion, and innovation.

In this specialist position, you’ll play a pivotal role in coordinating care, supporting patients through complex treatment pathways, and providing advanced clinical leadership within Mater’s Ambulatory and Outpatient Services.

The IBD service offers exceptional individualised care and is committed to enhancing the patient experience by providing education, information and support that’s evidence based.

Salary range: $66.86 - $72.59 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As a clinical leader within Mater’s IBD service, you’ll play a vital role in delivering and shaping exceptional, patient-centred care. You’ll guide complex treatment pathways, support and mentor nursing teams, and drive continuous improvement through evidence-based practice and collaboration.

As the CNC – IBD, you will:

  • Provide advanced clinical care and coordination for patients with IBD, ensuring continuity and excellence in outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver holistic, integrated care.
  • Lead quality improvement and innovation initiatives within the IBD service, advancing best practice.
  • Mentor and educate nursing staff, fostering professional growth and capability across the team.

About you

You’re a compassionate and skilled clinical leader with specialist IBD expertise and a passion for improving patient experiences and outcomes.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in a specialty nursing role (IBD or Gastroenterology preferred).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building capabilities.
  • (Desirable) Postgraduate qualification in a relevant specialty field.
