About the role
Mater Cancer Care Centre is seeking an experienced and compassionate Cancer Nurse Navigator – Early Breast to join our team at South Brisbane on a full-time, maximum-term basis (December 2025 – November 2026). This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients navigating their breast cancer journey, working within a world-class multidisciplinary team dedicated to excellence in care and support.
Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) aims to offer services to both public and private patients within a modern state-of-the-art facility which provides individually personalised, comprehensive and compassionate care. The MCCC includes specialist suites, consultation rooms, cancer care treatment pods, palliative care, support programs and a specialised pharmacy.
Specialising in woman’s cancers, haematology, oncology and palliative care with a dedicated area for apheresis, this busy unit coordinates 60 treatments per day and works closely with our South Brisbane private and public Oncology wards including outreach to the Mater Redland and Springfield hospitals.
Salary range: $66.86 - $72.59 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this pivotal role, you’ll act as the key point of contact for patients and their families, coordinating care across the full treatment continuum. You will:
- Undertake comprehensive, holistic assessments to plan and coordinate individualised patient care.
- Provide expert clinical guidance, education, and emotional support to patients and carers throughout diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
- Collaborate closely with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals to ensure continuity of care and optimal outcomes.
- Contribute to quality improvement and service development initiatives within the Mater Cancer Care Centre.
About you
You are an experienced and empathetic oncology nurse who demonstrates clinical excellence and a patient-centred approach. You will also have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with AHPRA.
- Minimum five years’ clinical experience in cancer nursing.
- Post-graduate qualifications in cancer nursing or a related discipline.
- Proven ability to provide leadership, education, and emotional support in complex clinical situations.
- Strong communication, coordination, and advocacy skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- (Desirable) Current chemotherapy competency.
