Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Engineering Services Manager to join us in a permanent, full-time role. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $62.68 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality engineering and maintenance services across Mater Springfield facilities. As a technical and managerial leader, you’ll drive performance, safety, and continuous improvement in support of Mater’s mission and operational goals. In this role, you will:
- Manage engineering maintenance programs and oversee the operational budget across Mater Springfield
- Provide technical and managerial leadership to a diverse maintenance team
- Ensure plant and equipment reliability through proactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance planning
- Establish and maintain maintenance programs that meet relevant standards and workplace health and safety requirements
- Oversee safety systems and compliance, including permit-to-work and risk management processes
- Develop and implement improvement initiatives to enhance service efficiency and sustainability
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to align engineering operations with business objectives
- Lead, coach, and develop staff, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence
- Contribute to strategic planning and resource optimisation to support Mater’s broader infrastructure goals
About you
You’re a skilled and proactive engineering leader with a strong technical background and a passion for continuous improvement. With extensive experience managing complex maintenance operations, you bring both strategic insight and hands-on leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and high-performing engineering services. The ideal candidate will have:
- Relevant engineering or trade qualifications (Associate Diploma or Bachelor’s degree preferred)
- Extensive management experience (10+ years) in multi-trade maintenance, either insourced or outsourced
- Proven ability to lead technically diverse teams in complex maintenance environments
- Experience in managing contractors
- Experience in managing small to medium size projects
- Analytical and problem solving attributes as it relates to building infrastructure
- A strong focus on safety leadership, compliance, and continuous improvement
- Experience in healthcare or similar regulated industries – desirable
