About the role:

Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is looking for experienced Hospitality Services Assistants to join our dedicated Food Services team, delivering exceptional care and support to patients and visitors.This is a permanent part-time role, offering 20 hours per week. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of our friendly hospitality team, delivering compassionate care and exceptional service to the local community. Immediate start available in December.

We offer a variety of shifts across a 7-day roster, including:

  • Early mornings: 6:00 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Afternoons: 6:30 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Late shifts: 11:30 AM – 7:30 PM or 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Flexibility to work across all shift patterns is essential to be considered for this position. 

Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg has been caring for the people of Bundaberg and surrounds since 1946. Our 59-bed facility is dedicated to supporting our community to live happy and healthy lives. The hospital is equipped with four operating theatres, a day surgery unit and offers a full complement of medical specialist services.

Salary range: $32.02 - $34.52 (Operational Officer Level 2) per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

As a Hospitality Services Assistant you will be involved in a variety of activities throughout the day, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting in the kitchens with food preparation
  • Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment within the hospital
  • Ensuring the highest standard of patient care by preparing, assembling, and delivering meals.
  • Pot and dish washing and kitchen cleaning
  • Verify meal eligibility by comparing client information to food requirements
  • Learn and use appropriate food and drink terminology and pronunciation
  • Ability to apply critical thinking, problem solving and effectively deal with complexity

About you

For this position we offer to opportunity to expand your skillset by gaining experience in our kitchen and hospitality team and gain experience in food services, room service and cleaning areas where suitable.

We are ideally looking for candidates that have:

  • Previous experience in a hospital or hotel cleaning/food services role
  • A background in managing medical and dietary requirements, with experience monitoring allergies and a variety of specialized diets, will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of current food hygiene principles, practices, and legislation
  • Ability to recognise and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Ability to engage with a variety of people.
