Clinical Nurse - Endoscopy Surveillance

About the role

Mater Ambulatory and Outpatient department is searching for an Endoscopy Surveillance Nurse (CN) in a permanent part time position working 3 days per week, 24 hours per week.

As an Endoscopy Surveillance Nurse within this unit, you will work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment with nursing staff and Endoscopy Consultants. This role will see you provide advanced clinical and problem-solving skills, expert planning and coordination skills in the clinical management of surveillance Endoscopy patients with complex care needs, ensuring quality standards are met.

Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!  

What you’ll be doing

As a valued member of the team your responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Review and follow-up of all pathology results, endoscopy reports ensuring surveillance recommendations align with guidelines.
  • Ensure the patient and GP is communicated with regarding the outcome from the endoscopic procedure and surveillance recommendations are shared to ensure continuity of care
  • Ensures Addendums to procedural report are monitored, reviewed and acknowledged by the treating medical officer.  Ensuring any changes in the recommended surveillance regime post endoscopy procedures are communicated with the patient and general practitioner 
  • Ensure appropriate follow up is in place for the endoscopic patient post procedure
  • Responds to patient and GP enquiries re surveillance, referrals and any pathology queries
  • Ensuring Colonoscopy care standard auditing compliance and responding to results accordingly

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration
  • Clinical knowledge & skills in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and procedures
  • Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of nursing
  • Demonstrated management ability
  • Ability to work autonomously within the healthcare team
  • Effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care
  • A commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional practice through continuing professional development
  • Demonstrated awareness of Gastrointestinal endoscopic services implementation standards (GESIS)
  • Previous experience within endoscopy or an outpatient setting advantageous
