Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Allied Health Assistant - Occupational Therapy to join us in a permanent, part time (0.6 FTE) role, working Wednesday to Friday. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening in the coming weeks. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
Salary range: $34.87 - $36.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As the Allied Health Assistant - Occupational Therapy, you will be responsible for providing clinical support tasks under the direct or indirect supervision of an Occupational Therapist or other Allied Health professional. This role involves assisting in patient care, transport, unit resource management and administrative support to ensure the delivery of clinical services across the hospital.
- Deliver patient care in group and individual sessions under Allied Health professional direction
- Contribute to patient records and maintain department equipment and stock levels
- Clean and maintain equipment and treatment areas following infection management guidelines
- Assist with personal care, manual handling and patient transportation
- Fulfill administrative duties and contribute to care delivery across all clinical areas
- Adhere to workplace health and safety policies, accreditation requirements and risk management protocols
- Provide supervision, training to Allied Health Assistants students and volunteers (delete this line)
- Achieve productivity targets, participate in meetings, and communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Support Mater's Mission and Values, comply with policies and procedures, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in committees, projects, and audit processes, and ensure compliance with legislative obligations and infection control policies.
About you
The ideal candidate will have experience working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant or Allied Health Assistant, and a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (the latter being desirable, not essential).
- Collaborate with Allied Health staff, Nursing staff and Allied Health Assistant colleagues across Mater sites
- Effective communicator, skilled in working collaboratively with teams, patients, and carers for optimal outcomes
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and resourceful problem-solving abilities
- Proficient in computer and digital literacy skills
- Experience in an acute hospital, sub-acute health settings preferred.
