Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Senior Physiotherapists (HP4) to join our team in the Emergency Department (ED) full-time and/or part-time permanent roles. There is 1.4 FTE servicing the ED 7 days per week (Monday – Sunday) to be shared across a minimum of 2 successful candidates.
Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually. The Emergency Department at Mater Hospital Springfield will have 56 bays and will service adults and paediatrics. We are seeking Senior clinicians with Emergency Department experience to commence this exciting new service.
Salary range: $66.58 - $71.64 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of physiotherapy services in the Emergency Department based on the most up to date evidence.
- Embed physiotherapy processes within the Emergency Department and advocate for the profession.
- Deliver consistently high-level evidence-based physiotherapy in an adult population, (paediatric skills also desirable) with a high degree of independence according to prescribed professional and ethical standards.
- Provide and promote Physiotherapy services that are cost effective and innovative that advance patient health outcomes and enhance patient access to quality physiotherapy services.
- Initiate, participate in and provide professional development activities to promote a learning culture within the team.
- Contribute to the clinical supervision of students and mentoring of less experienced team members in both routine and non-routine clinical conditions.
About you
Along with at least three years’ experience, knowledge and expertise as a physiotherapist with significant post graduate experience in treating patients in an Emergency or Acute Medical setting, the successful applicant will possess:
- A tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Physiotherapy as recognised by the Australian Physiotherapy Council
- Current full registration as a Physiotherapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) & Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
- At least three years’ experience, knowledge and expertise as a physiotherapist with a significant proportion of this spent treating patients in an Emergency or Acute Medical setting.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work cohesively within the multidisciplinary team and provide patient centred care.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional physiotherapy clinical services of a complex nature, manage a varying caseload from day to day and provide relevant clinical handover.
- Vestibular system assessment and management competency is highly desirable
