About the role
Mater Health has an exceptional opportunity for General Physicians to join the team in the Department of General Medicine, Division of Medicine on a part-time temporary basis. You will be required to work specific hours across weekdays and weekends on a regular basis.
Mater Hospital Brisbane is a not-for-profit teaching hospital located in South Brisbane, providing care to some 500 000 people each year and employing more than 6500 staff. As a Level Three University of Queensland (UQ) affiliated teaching hospital, the Mater has an active student teaching program and both basic and advanced trainees are enrolled with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. The hospital actively encourages clinical research and is affiliated with the Mater Research Institute which is located on campus.
Salary: Commensurate with experience plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a General Physician at Mater Hospital Brisbane (MHB), your primary overarching purpose is to optimise care of general medical inpatients and outpatients as well as perioperative outpatients. You will also be required to participate in the on-call and after-hours rosters for the General Medicine department and participate in departmental activities such as teaching and audit.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- AHPRA registration as Specialist – General Physician
- Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians
- Current high level of knowledge of General and Acute Medicine across a range of conditions
- Ability to manage complex medical problems integrating knowledge and clinical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and to be able to promote harmonious relationships within a compassionate environment
- Demonstrated teaching ability and ability to organise an effective teaching program
- A commitment to medical research
- Demonstrated ability to lead others and develop services
