About the role
Mater is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join our Group Finance team at the Newstead Campus on a full-time, maximum-term (12-month) contract.
This is a great opportunity to play a key role in supporting Mater’s mission-driven healthcare services by contributing to the end-to-end accounts payable process across a large, complex organisation, while working in a collaborative and supportive finance environment.
Salary range: $78,888 - $87,731 per annum plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll support accurate, efficient, and compliant accounts payable operations across Mater, ensuring timely processing and strong stakeholder relationships.
Your responsibilities will include:
Maintain and update vendor master data in accordance with procurement, compliance and segregation of duties (SOD) protocols.
Administer the internal vendor onboarding SharePoint site and act as the first point of contact for vendor-related queries.
Verifying supplier bank details and monitoring changes using Eftsure
Document and maintain master data management (MDM) processes, identifying and recommending improvements within established procedures.
Supporting invoice-to-pay (I2P) processing, including OCR and zero-touch workflows
Routing invoices for coding and approval in line with Delegations of Authority
Processing supplier payments and preparing payment runs with accuracy and attention to detail
Investigating and resolving invoice, payment, and reconciliation issues
Reconciling vendor accounts, including credits, refunds, and adjustments
Monitoring accounts payable mailboxes and providing timely, professional responses
Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) and support audit activities by providing relevant documentation and information. Accurate matching of purchase orders, goods receipts, and invoices prior to posting.
Identifying opportunities for process improvement and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
About you
You are a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and takes pride in delivering accurate, customer-focused outcomes.
You will bring:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role
Experience in a large or complex organisation (healthcare experience highly regarded)
Familiarity with ERP systems such as Microsoft D365, Kofax OCR, Eftsure, or similar
Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles
High attention to detail with strong reconciliation and data management skills
Well-developed organisational and time management skills
Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
A collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement
