About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for an Administration Officer to join Mater Administration Services at our South Brisbane campus on a permanent part-time basis (12 hours per week).

Working within the Teleservices team, this role is at the heart of Mater’s front-line operations, providing essential support to patients, clinical teams, Mater Private Hospital and broader Mater Health services across a 24/7 environment.

This position plays a key role in ensuring continuity of service, supporting daily shift coverage, and maintaining safe, responsive call centre operations, with availability required to work shift work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends and public holidays.

Salary range: $32.02 – $37.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you’ll provide professional, efficient and compassionate administrative support as part of Mater’s high-volume Teleservices function, including:

  • Managing a high volume of inbound calls, enquiries and emergency code calls, ensuring timely and accurate resolution or escalation
  • Acting as a key point of contact for patients, the public, clinical staff, Mater Private Hospital and Mater Health services
  • Supporting after-hours call services for Springfield and Redlands campuses
  • Managing doctors’ sick calls and leave notifications in line with established procedures
  • Monitoring and responding to alarm systems including fire, medical gases and security
  • Providing reception services for Mater Hospital Brisbane as required
  • Maintaining accurate administrative records and supporting rostering and operational processes
  • Contributing to quality improvement activities and promoting a positive, collaborative team environment

About you

You’re a calm, reliable and customer-focused professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service with:

  • Demonstrated experience in an administrative, call centre or customer service role (healthcare experience highly regarded)
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage sensitive and urgent situations with professionalism
  • Confidence using multiple computer systems and strong typing accuracy
  • Availability to work shift work across a 24/7 roster, including weekends and public holidays
  • A positive, team-oriented approach with a strong commitment to confidentiality, reliability and service excellence
