About the role
Mater is seeking a Casual Occupational Therapist to join our team based in South Brisbane. This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high‑quality care across both public and private health services, with exposure to a broad range of clinical specialties. These include rehabilitation, general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, neurosciences, cancer care, lymphoedema, psychosocial and mental health, as well as neonatology and paediatrics.
The role will require availability across both weekdays and weekends.
Salary range: $39.86 - $58.59 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a member of the Occupational Therapy team, you will provide patient centred, evidence based clinical care in our rehabilitation and acute wards on a casual basis.
The key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
- Independently undertake routine clinical practice within established clinical protocols to achieve patient focussed outcomes
- Apply increasing clinical judgement to more complex cases under clinical practice supervision
- Provide delegation, supervision, training and support to less experienced health practitioners, allied health assistants, students, support staff and volunteers in the delivery of clinical services
- Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within professional and multidisciplinary teams
- Identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve clinical services and patient outcomes
- Actively participate in translating research into practice
- Actively participate in professional and multidisciplinary teams, and liaise with patients, their families/carers and external agencies to facilitate patient centred care
About you
To be considered a successful candidate for this position you should have:
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or Master of Occupational Therapy
- Eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Eligibility to receive a Medicare provider number
- Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skill in delivering assessment and intervention in a rehabilitation and/or acute setting within the area of occupational therapy.
- Demonstrated ability to apply occupational therapy principles to occupational therapy clinical services in an acute and/or rehabilitation environment.
- Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient centred care
- Effective communication skills and demonstrated ablity to work co-operatively with profession and multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers to achieve optimal outcomes
- Demonstrated ability or ability to rapidly acquire skills to identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes
