Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for Dietitian Diabetes Educator to join us in a permanent, part-time role (0.8 FTE, HP3). Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.
The wider Dietetics team will support both public and private patients across the co-located Mater Hospital Springfield and Mater Private Hospital Springfield, and will service a range of specialties such as medical, surgical, ICU, maternity, paediatrics, and emergency.
The Dietitian Diabetes Educator will predominantly support women through the gestational diabetes model of care. However, the role will also provide dietetics departmental cover across other specialties as needed.
Salary range: $43.68 - $58.59 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You will provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients, whilst working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal patient-centred care.
Position-specific responsibilities include:
- Manage and deliver high-quality dietetic counselling and diabetes education for women with diabetes in pregnancy across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Apply evidence-based practice principles and demonstrate sound clinical judgement
- Managing an appropriate caseload using strong time management and prioritisation skills
- Contribute to the design and implementation of protocols and resources within the diabetes education portfolio, and the wider Dietetics department
- Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, patient-focused care
- Participating in supervision and education of more junior clinicians
- Contributing to research, service evaluation, continuous quality improvement and departmental professional development activities
- Support workforce capability by contributing to competency development, training, mentoring, and change management initiatives, including sustaining the Dietitian–Diabetes Educator model of care
About you
You are a compassionate and experienced Dietitian Diabetes Educator committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care and excellence in clinical outcomes. You demonstrate leadership, integrity and collaboration aligned with Mater’s Mission and Values.
You will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status
- Credentialled Diabetes Educator status
- Hold current Blue Card or eligibility for a Blue Card
- Experience as a Dietitian / Diabetes Educator in an acute hospital setting (desirable)
