About the role

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Clinical Nurse to join the Mater Hospital Brisbane, supporting inpatient referrals to Mater in Mind service.

This is a permanent part-time position (32 hours per week), offering the chance to work in a highly specialised, multidisciplinary environment focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centred mental health care for adults within the acute hospital setting.

Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this Clinical Nurse role, you will deliver advanced nursing care while coordinating and supporting inpatient mental health referrals across Mater services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive clinical assessment, triage and coordination of inpatient referrals to the CL Psychiatry (Mater in Mind) service
  • Delivering high-quality, evidence-based nursing care that considers patients’ physical, emotional and psychosocial needs
  • Coordinating care plans, collaborating closely with medical, nursing and allied health teams
  • Acting as a clinical resource and advocate for patients, families and carers
  • Providing clinical advice, education and support to staff across inpatient units
  • Contributing to service improvement, quality, safety and positive patient experiences
  • Supporting junior staff through mentorship, leadership and role modelling professional practice

About you

You are a skilled and compassionate Clinical Nurse with strong mental health experience and a collaborative approach to care. You will bring:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in mental health nursing or consultation liaison psychiatry
  • Strong clinical assessment, care coordination and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient-centred, trauma-informed approach
  • A commitment to quality, safety, continuous improvement and Mater’s values
  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant specialty (desirable)
