Mater is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join the Preterm Medical and Cardiac Surgical Neonatal Critical Care Unit at Mater Mothers’ Hospital, Brisbane, in a full-time, permanent position.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide highly specialised nursing care to critically unwell and vulnerable neonates, while working within a collaborative, values-driven team in one of Australia’s leading maternity and neonatal services. 

Salary range: $41.74 - $53.53 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing 

In this role, you will deliver safe, evidence-based neonatal nursing care while supporting families during some of the most critical moments of their lives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing comprehensive nursing care to neonates with complex and critical care needs
  • Delivering family integrated care for infants and families, ensuring care is delivered with sensitivity also involving families in goal setting and care giving for their baby
  • Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to plan, deliver and evaluate patient care
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and infection prevention practices
  • Participating in quality improvement activities, research initiatives, and ongoing service development
  • Supporting and mentoring students and less experienced staff, contributing to a positive learning environment

About you

You are a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse who thrives in a critical care environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient outcomes. You will bring:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Demonstrated experience working within a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or comparable critical care setting
  • Strong clinical judgement, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
  • Alignment with Mater’s values, behavioural standards, and commitment to patient-centred care
  • Willingness to work a 24/7 rotating roster
