Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Perioperative Clinical Facilitator to join us in a Permanent, Part-time role at 0.4FTE. Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency and surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!  

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide expert clinical guidance, mentorship, and support to perioperative nursing staff across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative practice areas.
  • Plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate evidence-based education and professional development programs tailored to perioperative care.
  • Identify and address learning needs specific to perioperative clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional behaviours.
  • Support perioperative staff to work to their full scope of practice and deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred surgical care.
  • Collaborate closely with Nurse Unit Managers, Area Managers, and Education Coordinators within perioperative services to ensure education aligns with organisational priorities and patient safety standards.
  • Incorporate simulation, skills assessment, and other contemporary learning methodologies relevant to perioperative practice into education delivery.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, professional accountability, and clinical excellence within the perioperative environment.
  • Support perioperative students and early career clinicians during clinical placements and transitions to surgical nursing practice.
  • Participate in research, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives that enhance perioperative clinical education and patient outcomes.
  • Actively contribute to the implementation of change, innovation, and evidence-based improvement initiatives across Mater Health’s perioperative services.

About you

You are an experienced perioperative clinician with paediatric and obstetric experience and a passionate educator who thrives on supporting others to reach their full potential in surgical nursing practice.

You bring:

  • Current and unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise and advanced practice knowledge in perioperative nursing, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
  • Proven experience in clinical education, facilitation, or professional supervision within a perioperative or acute care setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, support, and influence diverse perioperative teams.
  • Well-developed organisational and problem-solving skills, with a focus on quality, patient safety, and clinical outcomes.
  • Commitment to professional growth, evidence-based perioperative practice, and continuous improvement.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in perioperative nursing, clinical education, or a related specialty (or working towards) are desirable.
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or working towards) is also desirable.
