About the role
Mater Private Hospital Brisbane is seeking experienced Clinical Nurses to join the Mater Centre for Neurosciences. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a clinical leadership role within a highly specialised neurosciences service, delivering advanced, patient-centred care in a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
We have 1 x permanent full time vacancy, 1 x maximum term contract until 28th Feb 2027 and 1 x maximum term contract until 24th Oct 2026. We are open to 32 and 38 hours per week.
As a Clinical Nurse, you will provide expert clinical care while supporting care coordination, collaboration and communication across the interdisciplinary team. This role offers the opportunity to influence practice, mentor others and contribute to excellence in patient outcomes within a highly specialised neurosciences service recognised for clinical excellence.
Salary range: $54.45 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this clinical leadership role, you will deliver advanced nursing care while supporting operational and team excellence through:
- Providing high-quality, evidence-based care using advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Coordinating patient care and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimise outcomes
- Leading by example as a clinical resource and role model within the unit
- Supporting and mentoring less experienced staff and students
- Contributing to innovative models of care and continuous improvement initiatives
- Promoting patient advocacy, informed consent and person-centred communication
- Actively supporting quality, safety and infection control standards
- Assisting with operational leadership when delegated by the Nurse Unit Manager
- Contributing to performance, resource management and service delivery goals
About you
You are an experienced and confident Registered Nurse with strong clinical expertise in neurosciences (or relevant specialty), ready to step into or continue within a leadership-focused role. You bring:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum three years full-time equivalent clinical experience within your specialty area
- Demonstrated advanced clinical assessment, care coordination and critical thinking skills
- Proven ability to lead, mentor and positively influence team members
- Strong interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to patient-centred care and evidence-based practice
- A proactive approach to quality improvement, safety and risk management
- Postgraduate qualification in a relevant specialty (highly regarded)
