About the role

Mater Research is looking for an Inclusion Support Officer to join the team! This part-time, maximum term (12 months) role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

This role works alongside the research and clinical teams to enable meaningful input from team members and people with lived experience more broadly. The Inclusion Support Officer is also responsible for developing resources and procedures that support and embed lived experience contributions across the work of QCEAIDH.

Salary range: $45.76 - $50.05 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide individualised support to lived experience team member across a range of domains including, but not limited to, workplace tasks and pre/post meeting support, learning, and wellbeing, to facilitate their active contribution to the team. 
  • Coordinate onboarding and ongoing support plans for lived experience team members, in collaboration with HR and supervisors.
  • Advise on accessibility and inclusive practice across QCEAIDH’s work, including co-developing resources (e.g. Easy Read) and procedures that embed lived experience input.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying barriers to inclusion and proposing practical solutions.
  • Foster inclusive and effective collaboration across interdisciplinary teams, including people with lived experience, to achieve high-quality outcomes.
  • Organise and facilitate input from people with lived experience in focus groups, workshops and meetings from the broader disability sector.
  • Support capacity-building by mentoring team members to facilitate skill development aligned with their goals.
  • Support the broader team to build confidence and capability in working alongside people with lived experience, including providing guidance, coaching and reflective opportunities, and fostering a culture of inclusion across QCEAIDH.
  • Maintain documentation and feedback systems to monitor engagement, accessibility, and impact of lived experience input.
  • Represent QCEIDAH’s inclusive practice in internal and external forums, contributing to broader sector learning and reform.

About you

  • Minimum 5 years experience supporting people with intellectual disability, autistic people and/or people with psychosocial disability, preferably in a workplace.
  • Experience in developing plain English and easy read resources
  • Demonstrated high-level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks, balance competing demands and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a role that supports people with lived experience who may have unique and varying needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate inclusively with people with intellectual and developmental disability to progress work and produce high quality outputs.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and sensitivity to the needs and contributions of people with lived experience in a workplace.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate the intersecting priorities inclusive practice with a health service and research centre.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across diverse teams, consumers and stakeholders
  • Highly proficient computer literacy with excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications.
