About the role

Mater Health is looking for a Medical Workforce Roster Coordinator to join the team! This full-time, permanent role will be based at our South Brisbane campus.

This role is designed to work collaboratively within the Medical Workforce and Education Services (MWES) team to ensure streamlined and efficient rostering and allocation of junior medical officers to Mater Health.

Salary range: $46.96 - $51.73 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

  • Coordinate and distribute the daily rosters for specific ward based rotational Junior Medical Staff employed by Mater Health each term, considering departmental needs and junior medical office roster requests.
  • Coordinate sick leave of the Junior Medical Staff and tracking spreadsheet, roster swaps for the Junior Medical Staff ensuring the hospital is appropriately covered.
  • Manage specific day to day rosters (for rotational medical officers) and issues such as unplanned leave and reliever allocation as it arises in consultation with the relevant clinical departments and the Medical Workforce Manager. 
  • Coordinate Professional Development Leave, Professional Development Allowance and Professional Development Support requests from rotational junior medical staff from start to finish including arranging for Manager approval.
  • Coordinate ad-hoc claims from rotational junior medical staff for relocation allowances, maternity leave etc. in consultation with Medical Workforce Manager.
  • Input ad-hoc roster changes into Kronos timecards for rotational medical officers when managing swaps, recalls and sick leave. This includes completion of roster amendment forms when required.
  • Consistently review and improve rosters to ensure they meet department’s needs and follow best practice for safe working hours.
  • Ensure all allocation and roster practices followed are in line with National Standards for hospitals (NSQHS), The Mater RMO Enterprise Agreement, and accreditation standards set by Australian Medical Council for junior medical officer positions.

About you

  • Previous experience as a medical workforce, medical rostering coordinator
  • Sound understanding of the junior medical workforce roles and responsibilities
  • Ability to plan, develop and maintain rostering procedures for junior medical workforce
  • Initiative and ability to source information from government and regulatory bodies
  • Aptitude for problem solving
  • High level communication and liaison skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to respond, prioritise, manage and negotiate workflow within a team environment to achieve targets
  • Exceptional communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Agile, adaptable, and willing to embrace and lead change
  • Strong quality improvement approach and mindset
