About the role
Mater Advocacy and Protection Unit (MAP) currently has an exciting opportunity for a Social Work Assistant to join our Mater team. Based at the South Brisbane Campus, this position is a permanent and full-time opportunity.
You will be joining a welcoming, friendly and professional team providing Social Work services across Mater Hospitals state wide and will work closely with multidisciplinary teams in varied caseloads.
The MAP Unit provides integrated and specialised support to Mater people. Our purpose is to build capacity to recognise, respond, and refer children and adult patients at risk of, or experiencing violence, abuse, and neglect. This can include concerns relating to Child Protection, Domestic and Family Violence, Elder Abuse, and Sexual Assault. The MAP Unit provides clinical consultation, education and training, advice on policy and procedures, and stakeholder engagement.
Salary range: $35.74 - $37.46 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a valued member of the team you will be delegated tasks to:
Providing administrative support through the coordination of phone calls, email correspondence, calendar management and appointment scheduling.
Documentation support for patient records, meeting agenda and minutes, and follow up of actions register.
Recognise confidential and sensitive health information and adhere to legislation, policy and procedures on information management.
Actively participate in training and development activities to further develop clinical knowledge and skills.
Manage yearly “awareness day” calendar i.e. Child protection week, Domestic and Family Violence Month, and World Social Work Day.
Patient care may also include facilitating patient programs and group treatment sessions, providing education to patients on a defined range of topics, ordering and providing equipment for patients, assisting clinicians with clinical documentation preparation, assisting patients with applications to access government and community support and assisting with personal care, manual handling and transport of patients
About you
The successful candidate will have:
Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance OR enrolment in a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or equivalent human services degree (desirable)
Effective communicator who works collaboratively with professional and multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers to achieve optimal outcomes
Proven organisation, prioritising, multi-tasking and resourceful problem-solving skills
High level computer and digital literacy skills
Demonstrated experience in a similar role with clinical practice in allied health is highly desirable
Experience working in either a hospital, sub-acute, disability or community health setting would be highly regarded
Proven ability to work autonomously under a defined scope of delegated practice, in a complex and demanding work environment
