Digital Health Systems Trainer

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Digital Health Systems Trainer to join us in a permanent, part-time role (30 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday). While the role will initially be based with the Digital Technology & Innovation training team in Brisbane, it will play a key role in supporting the opening of Mater Hospital Springfield in early 2026.

This role will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state of the art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

Salary range: $62.74 - $67.20 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

You will work collaboratively with DTI teams, Mater Education and stakeholders at all organisational levels to design, develop and deliver structured, relevant and up-to-date end-user training for Mater’s core digital health systems, and:

  • Deliver up to date end user training (classroom and online) across core digital health systems and workflows.
  • Create, maintain and distribute training materials that support user learning and development.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to review and update training content, system functionality and business rules.
  • Work with DTI managers, system admins and project teams to update training in line with new requirements and system upgrades.
  • Develop, maintain and publish training schedules that meet end‑user needs.
  • Adapt training delivery to accommodate varied participant numbers and short‑notice onboarding.
  • Use engaging facilitation methods and monitor training effectiveness through quizzes and feedback.
  • Coordinate with DTI teams to ensure user access permissions follow successful training completion.
  • Seek stakeholder feedback and implement improvements to training plans, materials and schedules.
  • Contribute as a digital health training SME, supporting user communities, operational teams and project groups.

About you

You will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of providing system training in core health information systems such as Patient Administration Systems (e.g. iPM, WebPAS) and digital/digitised health records (OnBase, Verdi and CHAT). You will also meet the below criteria:

  • Certificate qualification in Health Systems and Services Training (desired)
  • Certificate IV Training and Assessment(desired)
  • Knowledge and skills in the delivery of IT systems education and training within Australian healthcare organisations
  • Subject Matter Expertise in the designated IT systems within the portfolio
  • Thorough knowledge of the business requirements / administrative functions supported by IT systems across Mater’s inpatient, outpatient and emergency department services
  • Sound understanding of the range of business rules that underpin accurate data entry in designated IT systems, including external/statutory reporting requirements
  • Ability to apply Queensland Health data standards / definitions to add meaning to IT system training / work instructions
  • Ability to prepare and deliver a variety of training solutions including end-user support, classroom-based training, presentations and online learning to meet the requirements of various stakeholder groups
  • Ability to operate effectively within a complex and diverse environment
  • Ability to review work practices, identify opportunities to improve performance, and implement changes to deliver improvements
  • Advanced level capability using the Microsoft 365 suite of applications and ability to quickly acquire knowledge of computer-based applications relevant to the role
  • Demonstrated time management and organisation skills, including the ability to organise and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines
