About the role
Mater Private Hospital Redlands is seeking applications for a Chef to join us in a permanent part-time position 16 hours per week.
Mater Private Hospital Redland has been supporting Brisbane's Bayside community since 2000 and is Redland Shire's only private hospital facility. Located in the suburb of Cleveland, the 60-bed hospital features 2 operating theatres and a wide range of specialised surgical and medical services, from women’s health and urology through to ophthalmology, neurology and orthopaedics.
Salary range: $35.74 - $37.46 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Prepare and present hot and cold dishes for patients and buffets to a high standard
- Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and cooking methods to maintain quality
- Support stock control, labelling, and food safety procedures to minimise waste
- Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic work area, using cleaning products correctly
- Ensure kitchen equipment is in good working order and report faults promptly
- Adhere to Mater’s Food Safety Plan and workplace health and safety guidelines
- Work collaboratively to meet service timeframes and performance targets
About you
You’re a qualified cook with a passion for preparing high-quality, nutritious meals in a fast-paced, team-focused environment. You take pride in maintaining food safety standards and consistency across all aspects of meal service.
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent Trade Chef qualification
- Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (within the last 5 years)
- Experience in a healthcare or similar high-volume kitchen (minimum 3 years)
- Strong understanding of HACCP principles and cook/chill processes
- Ability to read and follow recipes accurately and work to tight timeframes
- Effective communication and teamwork skills with a focus on quality and safety
