Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking compassionate and dedicated Assistants in Nursing (AINs) to join our casual workforce as we prepare for the opening of this landmark healthcare facility in early 2026. This state-of-the-art hospital will provide a mix of public and private services across emergency, maternity, intensive care and medical and surgical specialties.

As a casual Assistant in Nursing at Mater Hospital Springfield, you will work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, supporting Registered Nurses and Enrolled Nurses to deliver safe, high-quality patient care. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the opening of a brand-new hospital and play an important role in supporting patient wellbeing, comfort and recovery in a modern clinical environment.

This casual opportunity allows you to work within your specialty area while helping deliver exceptional care aligned with Mater’s Mission and Values. 

Salary range: $33.20 - $36.35 per hour plus casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

Casual EN Opportunities Available In:

  • Emergency Department (ED)
  • Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU)
  • Perioperative Services – Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA)
  • Paediatric Inpatient Unit 

What you’ll be doing 

Working under the supervision of Registered and Enrolled Nurses, you will provide practical support to ensure patients receive safe, respectful and compassionate care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living including mobility, personal care and meals
  • Provide one-to-one patient supervision and emotional support where required
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organised clinical environment
  • Assist with stock management, equipment cleaning and general ward support activities
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to support patient care
  • Contribute to a positive patient experience aligned with Mater’s values of dignity, compassion and excellence

About you 

You are a compassionate and reliable team member who enjoys supporting patients and working collaboratively within a healthcare team.

You will bring:

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assistant in Nursing)
  • 12 + months experience in area you are applying for 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to providing safe, patient-centred care
  • Ability to work flexibly across shifts in a busy hospital environment
  • Availability to work a minimum of two shifts per fortnight
