About the role
The Mater Young Adult Health Centre Brisbane (MYAHCB) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Enrolled Nurse to join the team at Mater Hospital Brisbane on permanent part time basis (32 Hours per week)
MYAHCB offers specialised healthcare environment for patients predominately aged 16-25 and their families. Featuring innovative service models focused on the primary condition as well as the associated impacts on adolescent social, emotional, and educational development, the service will help patients and their families through transition from paediatric healthcare services into care during the young adult period and subsequent transition to adult services. At all times, the focus will be on providing a complete care package to meet the emotional and physical healthcare needs of the patient.
The comprehensive service will demonstrate excellence in the management of all adolescent and young adult patients where there is an identified need and an evidenced clinical benefit. In addition to managing patients with chronic and complex conditions such as Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis, complex urology conditions, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease, the Mater Young Adult Health Service will deliver programs across a broad spectrum of specialties relevant to the adolescent and young adult cohort.
Salary range: $35.93 - $38.21 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As an MYAHCB Enrolled Nurse, you will support the Nurse Manager and Registered Nurses in delivering high-quality nursing care across the service. In this role, you will contribute to positive patient outcomes, participate in ongoing professional development, and support initiatives that enhance the quality and safety of care within MYAHCB.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments, implement care plans, and evaluate outcomes in collaboration with Registered Nurses/Midwives.
- Deliver safe, evidence-based patient care while supporting education, discharge planning, and patient advocacy.
- Maintain strong focus on quality, safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
- Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and support positive communication and change within the clinical environment.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, mentoring, and education of students and junior staff.
About you
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Current AHPRA registration to practice as an Enrolled Nurse (no restrictions)
- Considerable post-graduate experience within a hospital environment, preferably within a Surgical/Medical environment
- An understanding of Young Adults and their healthcare needs
- Demonstrated effective communication and clinical problem-solving skills to maximise patient care within the multidisciplinary team
- Knowledge and commitment to the continuous improvement of health care and nursing practice
- Commitment and responsibility for professional practice through continuing professional development of self and others
