About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane is excited to invite applications for an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) to join the dedicated team on Ward 7East – our Acute/Subacute Medical and Geriatric ward. This is a permanent part-time position at 32 hours per week.
Our 21-bed inpatient unit specialises in comprehensive care for older adults requiring acute and subacute management of geriatric conditions, alongside general medical care. We focus on supporting patients through complex health journeys with a multidisciplinary approach tailored to the unique needs of ageing populations, promoting restoration and prevention of further functional decline.
As an integral part of the 7East Nursing team, you will work closely with Registered Nurses, the Geriatric Medical Team including a full-time Geriatrician, and specialised Allied Health professionals. Together, we aim to optimise physical and cognitive functioning, improve patient outcomes, and assist in determining appropriate discharge plans.
The role requires flexibility to work a rotating roster including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends.
Salary range: $33.20 - $36.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting nursing staff in the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care to older adult patients admitted with acute and subacute health conditions
- Supporting patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and comfort
- Observing and reporting changes in patient condition to Registered Nurses promptly
- Assisting in maintaining a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients
- Contributing to a positive team environment by collaborating with all members of the multidisciplinary team
- Following infection control protocols and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety
About you
To be successful in your application, you will have:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Aged Care, Home and Community or Disability) or equivalent
- Previous experience working in aged care or hospital setting highly regarded
- A compassionate, patient-centred approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Flexibility to work across a rotating roster including mornings, afternoons, nights, and weekends
