About the role

The Mater Mothers, Women’s and Pelvic Health (MWPH) Physiotherapy Team is seeking a passionate and skilled Physiotherapist to join our dynamic team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is based at our South Brisbane campus, working across both the Mater Health and Wellness Clinic and Mater Mothers’ Hospitals.

The MWPH Physiotherapy team is one of four teams within the Physiotherapy department, delivering expert inpatient and outpatient care across the spectrum of pregnancy, postnatal recovery, gynaecological conditions, and pelvic health.

As a valuable member of the MWPH team you will provide evidence-based, patient-centred care across a diverse and rewarding caseload. You will deliver specialist antenatal and postnatal obstetric and pelvic health care across inpatient, outpatient, and group education settings. This role involves supporting women with a wide range of medical, obstetric, musculoskeletal, and socio-economic needs.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working autonomously with the above mentioned caseloads and come with an APA Pelvic Health Level 2 qualification or equivalent. You will have developed foundational vaginal and digital rectal examination (VE/DRE) skills, ideally supported by 1-2 years of using these skills in clinical practice. An interest in upskilling in bowel health, pessary fittings and female pelvic pain is advantageous.

Salary range: $41.06 - $60.35 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Autonomously provide obstetric and pelvic health physiotherapy care to patients in our private Health and Wellness Clinic
  • Provide acute postnatal obstetric care on the inpatient wards of the Mater Mothers’ hospitals
  • Contribute to our weekend and evening class rosters
  • Participate in continuing professional development activities to further develop clinical practice and expertise
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives that enhance the service delivery and patient outcomes within the MWPH physiotherapy service
  • Contribute to the learning and development of the team through clinical education and clinical supervision
  • Demonstrates self-awareness and accountability. Cultivate innovation and be solutions focused.

About you

To be successful in this role, ideally you will have:

  • A degree in Physiotherapy from a recognised tertiary institution and AHPRA registration
  • Formal professional development in Women’s Health, such as APA Level 1 & 2 Life Stages and Pelvic Health courses (or equivalent)
  • A strong foundation in pelvic health assessment and treatment and commitment to continue building expertise
  • Experience in inpatient and outpatient obstetric care, including group education delivery
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families
  • Demonstrated ability or ability to rapidly acquire skills to identify, develop and participate in quality and service improvement activities that improve clinical services and patient outcomes
  • A strong interest in upskilling in bowel health and pessary fittings.
