About the role

Mater Education has an exciting opportunity for experienced Vocational Education Teacher to join our Industry leading Registered Training Organisation. This role is primarily focused on the delivery and assessment activities related to the Vocational Education and Training in Schools program (VETiS) within the Toowoomba region. The roles will be 0.6 FTE working 3 days per week, Tuesday – Thursday.

What you’ll be doing

The VET Teacher will deliver and assess education and training within the Registered Training Organisation. They will be responsible for student management and accountable for ensuring excellence in educational outcomes for students and employers within the organisation aligned to our mission and values. 

Your key duties will include but will not be limited to: 

  • Manage a number of VETiS cohorts at various locations at external health hubs in Toowoomba region. 
  • Prepare and deliver training according to program requirements including workplace, online or classroom, and/or a combination of each when they are scheduled. 
  • Provide flexible training and assessment strategies suited to the needs of individual students. 
  • Evaluate and monitor student progress throughout the course, providing appropriate support. 
  • Manage assessment of student competence throughout the course, providing sufficient constructive feedback to promote positive outcomes. 
  • Seek appropriate assistance if students have learning or literacy difficulties, or disabilities. 
  • Ensure all delivery is fully compliant with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations 2015, and subsequent regulatory framework. 
  • Use and maintain Mater Education’s equipment, facilities and resources in a professional and responsible manner. 
  • Manage students administratively according to Mater Education’s procedures within the student management system (SMS) and learning management system (LMS). 
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings, open days, expos and information sessions as required. 
  • Provide a learning environment with minimal risk to staff and students by meeting Workplace Health and Safety benchmarks. 
  • Maintain current professional development and competencies in the relevant industry, as well as vocational education and apply to educational delivery. 
  • Actively participate in validation of assessments through the moderation process. 

About you

To be considered for this role, applicants will have: 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the relevant industry 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector and experience working within an RTO environment  
  • Detailed understanding of the relevant profession and accreditation requirements 
  • Ability to effectively manage and apply key conflict resolution skills in the student environment 
  • Enthusiastic and engaging individual who is highly knowledgeable in the relevant industry 
  • Strong adherence and acknowledgment of Policies and Procedures and industry requirements 
  • Ability to work well with peer educators and as part of a team. 
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment preferred, or willingness to work toward obtaining it.
