About the role

Mater Private Hospital Brisbane is seeking applications for the position of casual Hospital Steward. As a Hospital Steward you will be expected to demonstrate the Mater Values while providing a support service to our staff, patients and their families.

Salary range: $32.02 - $34.52 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

• Patient transport
• Waste and Soiled Linen Management
• Escorting discharged patients to their vehicles
• Location and movement of equipment
• Checking and replenishing of medical gases
• Providing assistance with patient manual handling
• Restocking and general tidying in departments
• Assist with emergencies
• Bed moves

This varied and fast paced role will require you to be physically capable of transporting and moving/turning patients, as well as moving equipment.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven ability to prioritise tasks effectively
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Proven ability to work within established guidelines, policies & procedures
• Ability to respond to requests in a quick, calm and caring manner
• Basic computer skills
• Contribute positively to the team culture

In addition, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to providing support to all patients, visitors and staff.
