About the role Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking an experienced Administrator/Patient Services Officer to join our dynamic team working across our Medical Record and Ward Reception services. This casual role will work shifts scheduled between 6:30am and 4:30pm, Monday to Friday . We are looking for someone who is organised, adaptable, and committed to delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
As a Ward Receptionist you will work within an interdisciplinary team environment and be responsible for the efficient, accurate and timely provision of a range of administrative services. As a Medical Record Officer you will be responsible for a variety of health record management services including digitisation, destruction, retention and release of information.
Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus 25% Casual Loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Manage a high volume workflow compiling patient documentation within established KPI timeframes to ensure timely provision to revenue streams.
Manage patient admissions, discharges, and transfers efficiently and accurately.
Respond to all phone calls, emails, and wayfinding/general enquiries with professionalism and clarity.
Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver timely and precise administrative support.
Accurately and efficiently complete tasks associated with the digitisation of the health record within established KPI timeframes to ensure timely and complete provision to revenue streams.
Participate in the review and destruction or retention of records in accordance with hospital policy and legislation.
Liaise with various Units / Departments, medical practices, medical practitioners, external organisations and patients.
Release information in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Demonstrated ability to work methodically with speed, efficiency, and exceptional attention to detail in a time-pressured environment.
Proven experience working in an administrative role within a medical or hospital environment or extensive data entry experience.
Sound computer literacy and numeracy skills, well-developed keyboard skills, and familiarity with patient administration systems.
Sound written and verbal communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and ability to work under the direction of others in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Please note: This role can entail work involving a high volume of manual handling.
