About the role

Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Senior Dietitian - Adult and Paediatric Nutrition Support to join us in a permanent, part-time role (0.5 FTE – 19 hours per week).

Based at our Springfield campus, these roles will be part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield — opening early 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With a mix of public and private beds across ICU, maternity, emergency and medical, surgical services, it’s set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

The wider Dietetics team will support both public and private patients across the co-located Mater Hospital Springfield and Mater Private Hospital Springfield and will service a range of specialties such as medical, surgical, ICU, maternity, paediatrics, and emergency.

Salary range: $66.58 - $71.64 per hour (HP4) plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you’ll be doing

The Senior Dietitian - Adult and Paediatric Nutrition Support will predominantly support patients within the Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) and Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Mater Hospital Springfield. However, the role will also provide dietetics departmental cover across other specialties as needed.

This role applies advanced clinical expertise to complex and high-risk patients, contributes to the development and expansion of specialist nutrition services in critical care, and supports excellence in patient outcomes across the continuum of care.

The successful candidate will provide advanced clinical expertise to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex and high-risk patients in the neonatal critical care unit (NCCU) and adult intensive care unit (ICU), while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal patient-centred care. You will also contribute to the development and expansion of specialist nutrition services in critical care across the lifespan.

  • Deliver an advanced, evidence-based nutrition and dietetic service to neonates and adults with complex and critical illness within the NCCU and ICU, as part of the multidisciplinary critical care team
  • Lead the development, implementation and review of specialist nutrition and dietetic services for the NCCU and ICU at Mater Hospital Springfield
  • Apply evidence-based practice principles and demonstrate sound clinical judgement
  • Manage an appropriate caseload using strong time management and prioritisation skills
  • Provide clinical supervision, mentoring and professional development to HP3 Dietitians and colleagues working in neonatal and adult critical care
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of protocols and resources within the critical care portfolio, and the wider Dietetics department
  • Contribute to research, service evaluation, continuous quality improvement and departmental professional development activities related to neonatal and adult critical care

About you

You are a compassionate and experienced Dietitian committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care and excellence in clinical outcomes. You demonstrate leadership, integrity and collaboration aligned with Mater’s Mission and Values.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status
  • Hold current Blue Card or eligibility for a Blue Card
  • Experience as a dietitian working in critical care across the lifespan, including neonatal and adult units in an acute hospital setting
