About the role
Mater Private Hospital Redlands is seeking a Housekeeping Attendant/Orderly to join them on a casual basis. You will be responsible for providing effective and efficient support services to our patients, including assisting with non-therapeutic aspects of patient care based on a consumer-focused philosophy and in accordance with hospital policy.
To be eligible for this position you will require availability across a 7-day rotating roster (Day shifts between 6:30am to 9:00pm and Night cleaning from 6:00pm to 01:00am)
Salary range: $32.02 - $34.52 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
The key tasks of the Support Services - Housekeeping Attendant/Orderly are:
Cleaning of patient rooms and public areas.
Night Cleaning of the Operating Theatre, CSSD, Recovery areas.
Safely transport patients on beds to Operating Theatre and Wards.
Transport medical equipment, gas cylinder, blood products as required.
Removal of soiled linen, rubbish and sharps containers.
Safely driving the patient transportation vehicles for offsite patient transfers.
Perform infectious room cleaning and other cleaning duties as requested by supervisor.
Ensure the safety of all people in the hospital by adhering to Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Clean body fluid spillages within hospital infection control guidelines.
Segregation of waste according to waste management protocol.
Actively comply with Hospital and Departmental Policies & Procedures.
Actively participates in own self development and performance management.
Actively support and participate in continuous quality improvement activities by participating in audits, equipment trials, providing suggestions and attending relevant meetings.
Successfully complete all annual mandatory training modules.
Determine the priority in which tasks are completed.
Promote a safe and harmonious workplace for patients, visitors and staff.
Conduct all other duties as specified in the Housekeeping Attendant/Orderly duties document.
About you
Availability across a 7-day rotating roster.
Open Australian Driver’s Licence (Mandatory)
Previous experience in an Orderly/Cleaning role in a healthcare, hospitality, or commercial cleaning environment. (Desirable)
Knowledge of using carpet cleaners, steamers, floor scrubber/polisher.
The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, bullying and harassment, and anti-discrimination legislation, practices, and behaviours as applied in the working environment.
