About the role
Mater Private Hospital Mackay has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Records Officer to join our Patient Services Team. This is a casual role that will provide excellent career development and learning opportunities for the successful candidate.
The Medical Records Officer is responsible for the timely and accurate filing and retrieval of medical records across the hospital.
Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus Casual Loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Within this role your principal accountabilities include:
Utilise the PMI (Patient Master Index) to accurately search and allocate Unit Record numbers to all loose filing and accurately files all forms into the correct patient medical record.
Ensure timely retrieval and preparation of medical records for patient admission.
Ensure prompt and accurate filing of medical records by terminal digit filing.
Participate in the culling of deceased and inactive medical records from the primary storage area into secondary storage
Liaise with various Units / Departments, private practices, medical practitioners, external organisations and patients with regard to patient admission.
Participate and assist with Total Quality Management activities.
Release information in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
