About the role
Mater Refugee and Multicultural Health Service is seeking a Clinical Nurse (CN) to join the Multicultural Health Coordination team working permanent part time 32 hours per week.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team that includes specialist refugee and multicultural health nurses, doctors, social worker and, administration staff and community engagement workers who are passionate about health access and equity for people of refugee and migrant backgrounds.
The hours of work will be Monday – Friday between 08:30 – 17:00. We require applicants to be available for minimum 0.8FTE (4 days per week) and able to work in Brisbane North, Brisbane South, Logan and Ipswich.
Salary range: $56.08 - $60.05 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Demonstrating advanced clinical expertise and knowledge of the Australian healthcare system and management of patients with complex health needs
Building and maintaining relationships with key health stakeholders, and supporting cross-sectoral governance, relationships, and partnerships vital to appropriate management of health for people of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) background
Providing expert clinical leadership in evidence-based, person-centred nursing interventions, planning and coordination of care including referrals to health and other services, patient education and other health promotion activities, and role model to and collaborate with the healthcare team
Conducting systematic, holistic assessments of patients’ health needs and health literacy using an outcome-based framework which is grounded in the social determinants of health to provide the highest standards of supportive care and care coordination
Acting as a patient advocate to identify systems barriers and address, advocate and Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in implementing strategies to ensure that quality and risk management are integrated into service provision
Delegating to and supervising Registered Nurses (RNs) and undergraduate students as required consistent with the NMBA decision making framework and CN standards for practice
Contributing to and promoting a learning culture with Mater Refugee and Multicultural Health Service by encouraging reflection and professional development, providing clinical teaching, in-service education, and assisting/supporting others to maintain portfolios/records of learning
Promoting, maintaining, and adhering to Infection Control policies and practices
About you
Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
Class C driving licence
Minimum 3 years’ clinical experience in at least one of the following specialist nursing fields: refugee health/ primary care/ rehabilitation/ disability/ paediatrics/ geriatrics/ chronic disease
Understanding of trauma-informed care and health equity and access issues for disadvantaged populations, with demonstrated experience in supporting clients to navigate these
Advanced written and verbal communication skills including experience of working with peoples from diverse cultural backgrounds; engaging interpreters in a clinical setting, and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels.
