Mater Mothers Hospital South Brisbane is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Registrar to join the General Obstetrics & Gynaecology team in a 6 month Max Term full-time position.
We’re offering a highly sought-after Advanced Training opportunity in General Obstetrics & Gynaecology, commencing August 2026. Based in a high-volume tertiary setting, this role offers exceptional clinical exposure across both specialties, supported by experienced leaders and a collaborative team environment.

What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality care across both obstetrics and gynaecology within a busy tertiary setting. You’ll manage antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care for women with complex pregnancies, while also developing your surgical capability through hands-on experience in a broad range of gynaecological procedures.
Working closely with experienced consultants, you’ll:
- Provide comprehensive care across the full maternity journey, including high-risk and complex cases
- Perform and assist in advanced gynaecological procedures, including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy
- Participate in colposcopy, fertility assessment, and specialised gynaecology clinics, including endometriosis and young adult care
- Build confidence in independent clinical decision-making, supported by senior medical staff
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performing multidisciplinary team
You’ll also have the opportunity to take part in the Mater Flying O&G Service, supporting rural and regional Queensland through outreach rotations and expanding your scope of practice in diverse clinical settings.
About you
You are a motivated Obstetrics & Gynaecology core or advanced registrar with a strong commitment to clinical excellence and ongoing professional development. You bring a proactive approach to learning and are keen to contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team.
You will demonstrate:
- Active engagement in teaching, audit, research and quality improvement activities
- A commitment to developing both obstetric and gynaecological clinical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary environment
This role is suited to core or advanced trainees in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Senior registrars will be supported to undertake relevant Advanced Training Modules (ATMs), including generalist obstetrics and gynaecology, essential O&G skills, colposcopy, and hysteroscopy and/or laparoscopy.
We also welcome applications from core trainees, including those considering relocation or moving interstate, who are looking to build their experience within a leading tertiary service.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Current registration as a Medical Practitioner without conditions with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
