About the role

Mater Mothers Hospital South Brisbane is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Principal House Officer to join the General Obstetrics & Gynaecology team in a 6 Month Max Term full-time position, with the potential to extend for a further 12 months.

As Queensland’s largest maternity provider, Mater Mothers Hospital delivers more than 11,000 babies each year and leads the state in publicly funded gynaecology services. This is a unique opportunity to work within a high-volume, tertiary setting offering exceptional clinical exposure.

Salary range: $67.51 - $74.14 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

In this position, you will gain broad, supported exposure across the full scope of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This role has been specifically designed to support PHOs preparing for specialist training with RANZCOG, while also providing a strong foundation for Medical Officers seeking to build experience in Women’s Health prior to General Practice or specialist pathways.

You will develop your clinical skills across a diverse range of settings, including:

  • Birth Suite, including labour ward and caesarean sections
  • Early Pregnancy and Pregnancy Assessment Units
  • Antenatal clinics and Obstetric Medicine
  • General Gynaecology clinics and theatre
  • Advanced laparoscopy and adolescent gynaecology

You will be involved in the care and management of both routine and high-risk obstetric patients, working within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will have the opportunity to contribute to departmental audits, education and research activities, helping to further develop your clinical knowledge and professional practice.

About you

You bring a collaborative approach to patient care, communicate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, and demonstrate a strong commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Medical Practitioner without conditions with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), or
  • In approved circumstances, eligibility for registration with conditions, to be obtained prior to commencement
