About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane
is seeking experienced Registered Nurses with Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and/or Emergency Department (ED) experience to join our Casual Pool.

This is a flexible opportunity with shifts available 24/7 across a variety of departments, offering exposure to a diverse range of patient cohorts and clinical environments.

Our Intensive Care Units provide integrated public critical care services, while the Emergency Department delivers a 24-hour comprehensive service for adult patients across a full spectrum of acute illnesses and injuries.

As part of our casual pool, you will be working within highly skilled, supportive multidisciplinary teams committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

Salary range: $42.99 - $55.14 per hour + 25% casual loading plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!  

What you’ll be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across ICU and/or Emergency settings
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgement in fast-paced, complex environments
  • Adapt quickly to different wards and teams while maintaining consistency in care
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including CNs, RNs, medical staff and allied health
  • Contribute to positive patient outcomes across the care continuum
  • Maintain a commitment to ongoing professional development and best practice

 About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (unrestricted)
  • Recent experience in ICU and/or Emergency (minimum 12 months; 2+ years ICU highly regarded)
  • Ability to work flexible, 24/7 rosters including day/night shifts (short notice availability essential)
  • Strong adaptability and ability to integrate quickly into different teams and environments
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in acute and/or critical care settings
  • Excellent communication, time management and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering exceptional patient care

Desirable:

  • Postgraduate qualification in ICU or for Emergency Nursing, Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK), or willingness to undertake
