About the role
Mater is seeking a Protective Services Officer to join our team in South Brisbane on a casual basis.
As a Protective Services Officer, you will be responsible for high level safety and security across the Mater Hospitals to ensure the safety of all persons and property by patrolling campus grounds and ancillary buildings and undertaking appropriate action as per relevant guidelines and protocols in the event of a security breach.
Salary range: $34.87 - $36.55 per hour plus superannuation and casual loading and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Reporting Fire Safety Security hazards or breaches
Conducting patrols of the hospitals and campus grounds
Assisting with compliance inspections of buildings and firefighting equipment
Assisting with helicopter medical retrievals when necessary
Providing information and assistance to staff, visitors and service contractors
Operating and maintaining the Security Access Control System, monitoring CCTV systems, Security Alarms and Fire Alarms
The control and regulation of parking and traffic movement
Providing assistance as directed during an emergency
Responding to alarms and calls for assistance
About you
Knowledge of legislation related to the industry, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge
Proven ability to work with minimal supervision exercising discretion
Demonstrated high level of customer service when liaising with staff and general public and excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to function as an active member of a team
Demonstrated experience with management and de-escalation of potentially heightened or aggressive situations
Mandatory qualifications:
Must hold a Security Licence, Class 1-Security Officer (Unarmed)
A Certificate 2 or 3 in Security Guarding or Operations
Fire Safety Advisor Licence (preferred)
Previous experience in the delivery of Fire Safety/Security Services is an advantage
Experience in dealing with the general public in “Service” related aspects
Hold an Open Drivers Licence
