About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane Perioperative Department currently has a opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to step into a Clinical Nurse role within Anaesthetics and/or Recovery/PACU. This position will be offered on a permanent full time 38 hours per week.

This is a key role supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in coordinating safe, high-quality perioperative care, with a focus on leadership, staff development, and clinical governance in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Salary range: $56.08 - $60.05 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  + access to many staff benefits!  

What you’ll be doing

• Provide advanced clinical support across PACU and/or Anaesthetics
• Lead by example to uphold safe, efficient care throughout the patient journey
• Assist in managing daily operations and responding to clinical escalation
• Support quality and safety initiatives including risk, audits, and infection prevention
• Mentor and guide junior staff, contributing to a culture of continuous learning
• Maintain current clinical knowledge aligned with best practice standards

About you

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
• Must have more than 3 years’ experience in PACU and/or Anaesthetics
• A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
• Demonstrated ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Commitment to ensuring the levels of service is always delivered to patients
• Extensive knowledge of current National ANZCA standards as well as ACORN Standards and their alignment with the Perioperative Department
