About the role
Mater Hospital Brisbane Perioperative Department currently has a opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to step into a Clinical Nurse role within Anaesthetics and/or Recovery/PACU . This position will be offered on a permanent full time 38 hours per week .
This is a key role supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in coordinating safe, high-quality perioperative care, with a focus on leadership, staff development, and clinical governance in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Salary range: $56.08 - $60.05 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Provide advanced clinical support across PACU and/or Anaesthetics
Lead by example to uphold safe, efficient care throughout the patient journey
Assist in managing daily operations and responding to clinical escalation
Support quality and safety initiatives including risk, audits, and infection prevention
Mentor and guide junior staff, contributing to a culture of continuous learning
Maintain current clinical knowledge aligned with best practice standards
About you
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
Must have more than 3 years’ experience in PACU and/or Anaesthetics
A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
Demonstrated ability to operate both in a team environment and autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning and strong listening, negotiation and decision-making skills
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Commitment to ensuring the levels of service is always delivered to patients
Extensive knowledge of current National ANZCA standards as well as ACORN Standards and their alignment with the Perioperative Department
