About the role Mater Public Hospital South Brisbane currently has an opportunity available for an experienced Administration Officer to join the appointment management team in a permanent full-time position.
The Administration Officer plays a key role in the delivery of exceptional service to Mater patients, families and staff. The core function of this role is to support the daily administrative and operational requirements of the ward, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, service delivery and business support.
Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be the person helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes—providing administrative support, coordinating processes and ensuring our teams have what they need to deliver outstanding care.
No two days are the same in this role. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Providing welcoming administrative support to patients, visitors and staff
Supporting the daily operational and administrative requirements
Managing documentation, data entry, filing and record maintenance with accuracy and attention to detail
Coordinating incoming and outgoing correspondence and maintaining information systems
Working collaboratively with clinical and operational teams to deliver a seamless patient experience
Supporting service improvements, projects and initiatives that enhance operational efficiency
Maintaining compliance with workplace procedures, safety requirements and administrative standards
Contributing to a positive, supportive, and high-performing team environment through effective communication, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence.
About you
You enjoy staying organised, balancing competing priorities and creating positive experiences for others. You’re adaptable, solutions-focused and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous administration experience (healthcare experience highly regarded)
Strong customer service and communication skills
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Confidence using Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems quickly
Experience using Health Information Systems, or the ability to rapidly acquire these skills
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment
