About the role
Mater is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Inpatient Billing Officer to join our Revenue team at the Mater Hospital, South Brisbane in a full-time, maximum-term contract until February 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial operations that support the delivery of exceptional healthcare. Working within a collaborative and supportive team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the accurate capture, reconciliation and processing of inpatient billing information, helping to maintain revenue integrity and support positive patient outcomes.
Salary range: $46.96 - $51.73 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As an Inpatient Billing Officer, you will support the accurate and timely processing of inpatient billing activities while building strong relationships across Mater's clinical and operational teams.
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate and review documentation to ensure all chargeable services and items are accurately captured
- Enter CMBS item numbers and prosthesis information into Mater's patient administration systems
- Investigate and resolve missing or incomplete billing information
- Liaise with practice managers, clinicians and internal stakeholders to obtain and verify billing data
- Perform regular reconciliations to ensure billing accuracy and completeness
- Generate and review utilisation and billing reports
- Collaborate with billing and supply teams to support efficient revenue processes
- Maintain accurate records while ensuring confidentiality and compliance requirements are met
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Revenue team
About you
You are an organised and detail-focused administration professional with strong communication skills and a passion for accuracy. You enjoy working collaboratively, managing competing priorities and delivering excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience in healthcare billing, revenue services, accounts administration or a similar administrative environment
- Knowledge of CMBS item numbers, prosthesis billing or health fund billing processes (highly regarded)
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to manage sensitive financial information professionally and confidentially
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working collaboratively within a team and across multiple stakeholder groups
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement
- Intermediate computer skills and experience working with administrative systems
