About the role
Mater Private Hospital Brisbane is seeking a dedicated and motivated Orderly to join our Perioperative Services team in this full-time, permanent position.
Based within our modern, fast-paced operating theatres, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to exceptional patient care and support clinical teams delivering outstanding surgical services. You will play a vital part in maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-centred environment, while living out the Mater mission and values each day.
Salary range: $34.87 - $36.55 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will support the safe, effective, and compassionate delivery of perioperative care through high-quality assistance to clinical teams, patients, and service partners.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing timely and effective support to nursing and medical staff within the operating theatres
- Ensuring patient dignity, privacy, and comfort during all interactions and transfers
- Applying infection control principles and standard precautions in all tasks
- Maintaining a safe and secure environment by identifying hazards and adhering to WHS standards
- Monitoring, checking, and safely maintaining medical gases and oxygen cylinders
- Promoting teamwork, positive communication, and a supportive work culture
- Assisting with orientation, guidance, and support for new staff as required
- Undertaking other duties as directed by the Nurse Manager – Perioperative Services or senior nursing staff
- Participating actively in meetings, training, and relevant performance development activities

- Previous healthcare or orderly experience (desirable but not essential)
