About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Records Officer to join our Patient Services Team. The successful applicant will secure part-time employment, working 15 hours per week , with additional hours available for leave coverage. The Records Team operates throughout the hospital Monday to Friday between 7:00am and 5:00pm .
The Medical Records Officer is responsible for the timely and accurate batching, filing, and retrieval of medical records across the hospital.
Salary range: $32.02 - $37.35 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Utilise the webPAS PMI (Patient Master Index) to accurately search and allocate Unit Record numbers and patient records
Ensure timely retrieval and preparation of medical records for patient admission.
Ensure prompt and accurate filing of medical records by terminal digit filing.
Participate in the culling of deceased and inactive medical records.
Liaise with various Units / Departments, medical practices, medical practitioners, external organisations and patients
Release information in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Hospital.
Accurately and efficiently complete tasks associated with scanning of paper health record documentation (preparing, scanning, indexing and review).
Ensuring the information on the documents is correct once scanned into the system.
Work to volume of work and quality targets, ensuring they are met.
Contribute to the team by identifying inefficiencies and inaccuracies in processes.
Participate and assist with Total Quality Management activities.
About you
Ideally you will be a process orientated person who is looking for a fast-paced environment. You will also have:
Experience working in a health care environment is highly desirable.
Ability to quickly learn different computer applications.
Excellent attention to detail and data entry skills.
Experience in applying quality assurance processes to repetitive tasks.
Demonstrated ability to follow policies and procedures.
Ability to complete repetitive tasks accurately at required volume and within timeframes.
Understanding of patient confidentiality.
You like to work in a team environment and comfortable to work autonomously when required.
