About the role

Mater Private Hospital Rockhampton has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Medical Palliative Care team. We offer flexible employment arrangements, with opportunities ranging from Part time to Full time employment from 0.4 FTE to 1.0 FTE to suit your lifestyle and work preferences. 

Our General Medical/Palliative Care Ward is a 30-bed unit, including three dedicated palliative care beds, providing care to a diverse patient cohort. The ward specialises in palliative care while also supporting patients across general medicine, cardiology, and oncology, offering a broad range of acute and complex healthcare services. You'll join a compassionate, multidisciplinary team committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care while making a meaningful difference to patients and their families every day.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus superannuation andaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900  +access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As a valued member of our Medical Palliative Care team, you'll provide safe, high-quality nursing care while working collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.

You will:

  • Deliver evidence-based, patient-centred nursing care across medical and palliative services
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care plans
  • Support patients and their families with compassion, dignity and respect throughout their care journey
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate safe, effective care
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to discharge planning
  • Mentor and support nursing colleagues and students where appropriate
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development

About you

You'll be a compassionate and adaptable Registered Nurse who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

You will have:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with no restrictions
  • Demonstrated clinical experience within an acute medical, oncology and/or palliative care setting (highly regarded)
  • A genuine passion for providing person-centred, compassionate care
  • Excellent clinical assessment, communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing learning, education and professional development
  • Postgraduate qualifications relevant to medical or palliative nursing will be highly regarded but are not essential
