About the role
Mater Hospital Springfield is seeking experienced and motivated Dietitians to join us on a casual basis (HP3). As Mater’s first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region.
The Dietitian team supports public and private patients across the co-located Mater Hospital Springfield and Mater Private Hospital Springfield, delivering care across diverse specialty areas including medical, surgical, ICU, paediatrics, and maternity.
Salary range: $47.69 - $60.35 per hour + 25% casual loading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
As a casual Dietitian, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, and management of inpatients, while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centred care across a range of clinical areas.
You will be integral to ensuring continuity of service by covering planned and unplanned leave, contribute to the ongoing development of clinical services, participate in quality improvement activities, and engage in continuing professional development to ensure care is aligned with best practice and Mater’s mission and values.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver nutrition assessment, intervention and evaluation in line with professional and ethical standards.
- Apply evidence-based practice principles and demonstrate sound clinical judgement.
- Independently manage an acute clinical caseload using strong time management and prioritisation skills.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and organisational policy.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, patient-focused care.
- Contribute to service evaluation, continuous quality improvement and departmental professional development activities.
- Promote the role and value of the nutrition and dietetics service within the wider healthcare team.
About you
You’re a motivated and professional Dietitian who demonstrates clinical excellence, teamwork and a passion for improving patient outcomes. You value collaboration, evidence-based practice and continuous learning. Reporting to the Dietitian Team Lead, you will work with the wider Dietitian team and Dietetic Assistant, ensuring safe, effective and evidence-based care.
- Tertiary qualifications in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) status
- Hold current Blue Card or eligibility for a Blue Card
- Two years’ experience in an acute hospital setting (desirable)
- Experience in specialty areas of practice, including surgical, ICU and paediatrics (desirable)
